Rad Girls BMX Flatland 2020

I have been super busy the last two weeks putting together the Flatmattersonline Year End Awards, so on my breaks it’s good to watch something a little different to freshen things up. Paula Marie in this insistence came through with this amazing edit documenting the growing female flatland scene in 2020, and had this to say:

“2020 was a tough year to say the least. But, in the chaos and fallout that we are still experiencing we have a lot to be grateful for. Just stop for a moment, each day, and give pause. Be mindful of your surroundings, and of yourself. Mindfulness has many times been proven to be effective in over all wellbeing. It’s benefits preached and practiced for millenniums now. So if you’re having a hard time, don’t forget it’s ok to just stop and pause in the moment to breath. Or go ride. Many riders will tell you riding is a form of meditation. You must clear your mind of all distractions and focus your attention to the moment. We are all grateful for the riding that we did in 2020, and we are all grateful for every moment afterwards that we have. Here are some of our favourite Rad Girls of 2020.”

The 2020 Flatmattersonline Year End Awards Nominations Are……..

It’s time as promised to announce the 2020 Flatmattersonline Year end awards nominations,
I felt there was a lot to say about the awards and the year, which a lot of the time doesn’t get covered under the previous text announcement format.

So, I attempted to make a makeshift studio feel in my front room during lockdown 3.0, and present the nominations, and share my feelings on the year as well as the reader choices.
Congratulations to everyone who was nominated, and thank you to everyone who took the time to vote.

Winners announced: Sunday 24th January.

Marton Szilagyi: Over 50

Marton's Over 50 Edit (2020 year end edit) from og pictures on Vimeo.

It still seems like yesterday Marton Szilagyi came to Southsea Skatepark as he was working in the Hungarian circus across the road. OG Marton is a legend, not only a great rider but blessed with amazing editing skills to boot. These videos are so easy on the eye, that’s not easy to do. Keep on keeping on Marton, I can’t ever imagine him stopping! Respect!!

Flatgames 2017

I don’t know about you at home, but I have been watching a lot of contest/jam footage recently. This Flatgames contest from 2017 in Japan really motivated me and brightened my day, sit down, grab a cuppa and get motivated! Jimalog kills the editing duties and this will get you riding with a smile on your face. Big up Moto Sasaki organising this jam!

Joey Kyllo & Francois Debroux: VANCOUVER Episode 1 / Injuries

Something little different to break up your feed today, Joey Kyllo & Francois Debroux update us all on what’s going with Grizzly Jam, and Joey discusses his recent injury and offers recovery tips. If you have never been, Vancouver is one of the most beautiful places in the world. This stuff is gold. Good job guys!

Terry Adams: More Than Motivated

Two great edits today for you to digest, both for different reasons.
Here’s that Terry Adams had to say about his new documentary:

“On the first day of 2021 I wanted to give you guys some insight of what my daily routine was for 2020. My goal was to give it my all. On and off the bike I worked my ass off. I’m extremely happy with my results and how much I’ve progressed as a person and a rider. Check out this 22 minute raw documentary filmed in one day that takes you through my daily routines, reasons for pushing myself, & my mindset behind all the motivation. Filmed & edited by Mickey Gaidos.”

Must Watch: Mates Tuček / Flatland 2018-2019

If you didn’t already know Mates Tuček is one of the most skilled riders in the game, I have had the pleasure to ride with Mates for a week straight a few years in a row. His trick depth is like that I would expect of a 50 year old man, he can do it. Just what this edit filmed from between 2018-2019, and I am sure you will agree. I will however, say the music is on mute….

Let me also say right here, congratulations to Mates and his girlfriend who just celebrated their first child together. Beautiful!
